Hoarding

18 Dec

Today I am linking up with Essentially Jess for IBOT (I Blog on Tuesdays).

For awhile now my husband has been telling me I am a hoarder.

Have you seen the TV show? I am amazed by how much stuff people have.  My house looks nothing like that but our shed on the other hand is busting at the seams, mainly with my school stuff.  I haven’t been in the classroom for two years so all my ‘school stuff’ has been stored in the shed.

Today is the day for me to sort through it and I plan to cull!

Yesterday we carted it all from the shed onto our back deck.  Look at what I’ve got!

Can you believe I have so much stuff.  48 plastic tubs!

Actually that’s not all of it.  I still have a cupboard full of art supplies (pom poms, pipe cleaners, patty papers etc), a fridge, reading chair, couch, filing cabinet and a bookcase full of picture books.

My aim is to cut it down by half. Wish me luck!

What a collection! Please give it away or sell it. Don’t throw it away. Maybe I’m a hoarder too.

No, I think my nephew may be receiving a large portion of stuff. My sister will be pumped😉

Be strong! Be brutal! It’s so easy to collect things for ‘just in case’ or ‘one day’! I was watching Hoarders last night on TV. I find it fascinating and scary. It always inspires me to keep a watch on my collection 🙂

I feel your pain! When I left the classroom 3 years ago and swore I was never going back I gave away and dumped SO much stuff…. Now I’m heading back to the classroom I have to sift through what I have left and find everything again… :-/

Heck Marleisa so much stuff. You can probably cull heaps as you would have new ideas and resources available to you now.

Goodluck, it must be hard to get rid of useful things. Can you donate it to another teacher so at least you know it is going to be used?

Gosh that is a lot! Our little house is bursting at the seams because I am such a terrible hoarder. I cringe watching those TV shows you mentioned in fear that I may one day be on them!

I think he might be right, but at least you appear to be an organised hoarder 🙂 Rachel xx

Oh, I hate accumulating stuff… Good luck with your cleaning! I’m sure you will feel much better when it’s all done. Keep us posted!

I am definitely a hoarder, but mostly because I am lazy and can’t be bothered going through stuff! It’s only when the piles threaten to fall and bury me that I find my motivation!

I saw this on IBOT and I was drawn to it …. All that wonderful stuff to declutter, I would be in my element, given permission and time 🙂

Good luck with your cull, and you find good new homes for the good stuff and be ok with parting with it 🙂
