For awhile now I have wanted to add a outdoor blackboard to our school playground.
So over the holidays (with permission from my principal) I gave myself the task of making one (I roped my husband in to help me).
Firstly we took ourselves off to Masters to buy supplies – chalkboard paint, undercoat, screws, liquid nails, plugs and 2 sheets of cement fibro (it all came to just under $100).
Our first job was to undercoat and then paint the two boards with the Chalkboard paint.
We then used liquid nails and screws to attached the two boards to a brick wall in the playground (electric drill definitely required for this part!).
Done!
And more importantly it was hit at school on Monday!!
Today I am linking up with Essentially Jess for IBOT (I Blog on Tuesdays).
oh that is AWESOME! I wish we had a house we could do that to! Unfortunately Nick is not that interested in drawing on blackboards so it would only be me who used it. LOL! -Aroha (#teamIBOT)
Hey Marleisa
Would you And Grant make one for me?
What a great idea!
Cheers
Madonna
Sure, Grant would love that :)!
Well done, we made one at my last school when I had Year 2 – children loved it!. PS: Madonna your brother knows how to make them too! Guess who made mine???
The school OT is always telling me how good it is for little kids to write on a vertical surface to help with pencil grip and building shoulder muscles! Now I need to get a hopscotch painted on the cement – this one I can’t do!
Great Idea. We have a big outside concrete area at home, and when we get a bunch of chalks it becomes one big chalk board. Keeps kids of all ages happy
What a great idea !!!! I am sure that the children will have great fun drawing / writing on it – plus you could leave such cool messages on there for them !
Have the best day and keep up the great job you are doing with the squats (I’m thinking that seeing as I am still trying to get through #IBOT posts at 12.50am – I am going to have to do all my Guns, Buns and Abs work tomorrow night !!!)
Me
Oh to have a teacher such as you – I bet the kids were excited! Happy Term 3 Marleisa x
Oh that’s awesome! Teacher of the year award should be headed your way
Love this Marleisa, going to try this at home! 🙂
